We’ve been to quite a few wine tastings, but this wine experience was truly the best one yet. We booked the most extensive 4½-hour tasting, but it turned into an 8-hour event! The wine and food just kept coming. And these weren't small glasses or tiny portions, so definitely make sure to arrive by taxi! The wine and Rakija are exceptionally good, and the accompanying dishes are delicious too! Everything here is done with love,something you can both feel and taste. Such amazing hospitality! So, if you’re in Ohrid, don’t hesitate for a moment and book this wine experience at S&S Winery! It was a highlight of our stay in Ohrid. Thank you, Vancho and Nikolce, it was great! Vanco and his family were incredibly welcoming, kind, and helpful, making us feel like guests in their home from the very beginning. Their generosity and personal touch really made the visit special. The winery has such a calm and peaceful setting, with a beautiful view over the vineyards and an amazing sunset over the lake. A great tip is to take the tour around sunset — the atmosphere and views are absolutely beautiful at that time. We also really appreciated the flexibility during the wine tasting. They took the time to adapt the tasting to our personal preferences, which made the experience feel very relaxed and personal rather than standardized. The food was also very nice and complemented the wine tasting perfectly. Overall, a wonderful place to slow down, enjoy good wine and food, and experience genuine local hospitality. Beautiful scenery with an informative and interesting tour of the vineyard and the winery to begin with, followed by many different delicious local wines and rakijas brewed at S&S Winery. These were expertly paired with tasty well-presented food, which we enjoyed over the course of 4 hours (we had booked the 2.5hr wine tour and tasting). I would absolutely recommend this, however it is worth using local taxis to travel to and from. We walked there from Ohrid, which was doable but hot and dusty, then a taxi at a reasonable price was ordered to take us back to Ohrid. Exceptional experience, and if I was in the area again I'd absolutely return.

Vranec – Trebenishta

Vranec is a red grape variety native to the Balkans, particularly associated with Macedonia. It’s known for producing rich, full-bodied wines with dark fruit flavors, spices, and sometimes a hint of pepper. Winning three bronze medals is a commendable achievement, indicating that the wine has been recognized for its quality in competitive tastings.

Kratosija – St. Erasmus

Kratosija or Kratoshija is a red wine grape variety native to the Balkans, particularly prevalent in Macedonia and Serbia.

Typically display a deep ruby-red to garnet color, often with hints of purple when young. The aroma of Kratoshija wine can vary, but it commonly offers fragrances of ripe red and black fruits such as cherry, plum, raspberry, and blackberry. You might also detect floral notes, subtle spice nuances like black pepper, and earthy undertones.

- Golden Mask - The necropolis of Trebenishta, Ohrid - Macedonia

Ohrid, the city of Light, after two and a half millennia, showed us again the golden immortal faces of his angels. The discovery of priceless treasures from Trebenishta village which is located on the road Ohrid-Kičevo was like a movie. Ancient Macedonian tombs from the first half of 1st millennium BCE loaded with gold, silver, and rich royal burial gifts. On September 30, 2002, the fifth consecutive golden mask was found, which is a rare practice in archaeology. In less than a century, or more precisely for 84 years, although at a not big distance, in a country that actually cannot invest a lot in expensive excavations, five golden masks were found!
